Mens Native Skinny Ties June 29 2014, 1 Comment
NWCG is now selling skinny ties! Measuring 3 3/4" wide by 59" long, these 100% silk trendy skinny ties are perfect for the boardroom or the club. They are available in two designs: Wolf by Namgis artist Ryan Cranmer, or Salmon (Endurance) by Kwakwaka'wakw/Salish artist Maynard Johnny Jr. Each tie comes in a matching giftbox.
Maynard Johnny Jr, a resident of Chemainus, began his career as a teenager and has continued his self-directed development of art-making; recently he began to venture from painting to jewellery and wood carving. He is inspired by such notable artists as Robert Davidson, Art Thompson, Richard Hunt and Mark Henderson. He was featured at the 'Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 2' exhibit at the Museum of Art and Design in New York, in 2005. In 2009, Maynard's work adorned the cedar giftboxes that were given to special guests at the Canadian Juno Music Awards.
Ryan Cranmer belongs to a family of prominent artists (his uncle is renowned artist Doug Cranmer from Alert Bay) and at a young age he became interested in Northwest Coast art and design. Ryan has studied with Barry Scow and Wayne Alfred.
