Yellow Cedar Sculpture by Glen Edwards, Coast Salish

Regular price $250.00 $0.00
Standing proud, this upright salmon sculpture by Coast Salish artist Doug Horne is hand carved in yellow cedar. Enjoy the graceful curves and points of Coast Salish formline in his signature style with bold black and red paintwork.

Glen Edwards started carving in 1977, and he trained with Danny Baker and other Squamish carvers. He gained many of his ideas and aesthetics through the study of Salish and southern art. Glen has many pieces in private collections throughout Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States. He is well-known for his wall plaques, maskettes, and deep carving.

The Salmon is a symbol of abundance, wealth and prosperity because Salmon is the primary food source for Northwest Coastal people, representing the ability to provide for your family.  Salmon are Supernatural beings who give up their life to feed our people.  We hold them in high esteem and honour their return every year
