Hand Carved Ceramic Bowl | Fishing Net by Patrick Leach
Hand Carved Ceramic Bowl | Fishing Net by Patrick Leach
These hand carved ceramics by St’át’imc/T’ít’q’et/Coast Salish artist Patrick Leach beautifully evoke historical design while maintaining a vibrant modern colour palette. Titled Fishing Net, this bowl is hand carved with images of fishing figures and an encircling weaving pattern.
Carved using a technique called sgraffito, which involves layering glazes which are then hand-carved after firing to reveal the contrasting clay colours beneath. Patrick's one-of-a-kind finished pieces featuring imagery that represents Coast Salish landscapes, geometrics, and scenes from ancient and traditional rock paintings and basket weavings.
