These small wall plaques in glorious red cedar are a beautiful addition to any home with their deep red hues and rich colours. Each is hand-carved and painted by Nlaka'pamux/Nuu-chah-nulth artist Nelson McCarty.
The Salmon is the life source and the provider of food for all animals and humans. When salmon are seen in pairs, it symbolizes good luck.
The Bear is a symbol of authority and wisdom. Bear is a well-respected member of the community and sometime referred to as the protector of the forests.
The Eagle is a symbol of pride and friendship. Eagle feathers are given as gifts to symbolize honour and respect for accomplishments and displays of courage and wisdom. Because Eagles mate for life, they are also admired for their long term commitments.
The Killerwhale is a communicator and highly regarded guardian of the sea. Whales travel together and symbolize long life and unity.
The Raven is the transformer and the creator, Raven placed the sun and moon in the sky so the world would have light and also put the trees on land and fish in water. This primordial creature opened the clamshell to release the first man. He is known for his knowledge, trickery and creativity.
The Wolf can be considered a symbol of leadership and intelligence. The wolf people shows us strength in relationships and the importance of strong family values. Wolves live and hunt in packs or family groups.
